The Türler Cartoon Competition
The Türler Cartoon Competition took place annually from 1993 until 2003,
after the Türler showrooms had been inaugurated in the heart of Berlin
on Friday, December 3, 1993. Vying for Euro 6,000 in prize money, students enrolled
at the Universities of Berlin and Brandenburg and at other institutions of higher
learning were invited once a year to observe the evolution of their city and
document their findings with a satirical twist. A competent jury staffed by
artists and professors of both universities, joined by Dr. Werner Baumann, the
Swiss Ambassador in Berlin, as well as Franz Türler, took on the sophisticated
task of evaluating and ranking the ever larger number of entries submitted each
year.
