The model of the cosmos
The Türler Clock is a unique depiction of the proximate universe. It is unparalleled in terms of its development, mechanical production, and functional beauty. Five movements (planetarium, tellurion, globe, horizon, perpetual calendar) count and display a vast spectrum of astronomic indications - from the smallest commonly used unit of time, the second, to the heavenly canopy (glass sphere around the globe) which performs one revolution every 25,794 years. The accuracy of the Türler Clock is synchronized with coordinated universal time (UTC) on the basis of the seconds markers received from the German-based DCF77 time signal broadcasting system. It is driven with solar cells mounted on the roof of the building at the Paradeplatz. The Türler Clock, as a model of the cosmos, or individual movements of the clock can be calculated and constructed for any location throughout the world.
