1953 The gateway to the world opens for Franz Türler Sr.
With its shops at the new Zürich-Kloten intercontinental airport, Türler can reach out to its worldwide clientele. Franz Türler Sr. is excited: «We've just opened the gateway to the world!»
Japan's successor to the throne, Prince Akihito, visits the Türler shop after his arrival at the Kloten airport on Monday afternoon, August 24, 1953. The nineteen-year-old crown prince listens attentively as Franz Türler Sr. (far left) explains how the Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos works. It never needs to be wound and requires no power. It runs exclusively on the basis of changes in atmospheric pressure. |
